Introduction to Astrophysics 1 – Teaching Assistant

I am the Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Astrophysics 1 (천체물리학개론 1), taught by Prof. Woong-Tae Kim in Fall 2026. The course is the department's core upper-level physics course for astronomy majors. The first half covers radiative processes (radiative transfer, line radiation, bremsstrahlung, synchrotron, Compton scattering, and plasma effects), and the second half covers astrophysical gas dynamics (fluid equations, waves and shocks, instabilities, supernova remnants, the virial theorem, and MHD). The textbook by Koo & Kim, Radiation and Gas Dynamics, follows Rybicki & Lightman and Shu.

The instructor requested me for this course. Teaching assistants in the department are normally assigned at random. For this course, as for my two cosmology TA appointments, the instructor reviewed the TA roster before the assignment and asked for me by name.

Homework solution sessions

Beyond the usual duties of grading homework and proctoring exams, I ran the homework solution and Q&A sessions in a lecture format, working through each problem set with the class.
